Monsters

As the month was October I thought Monsters would be a good subject to have . The kids made their own monster masks using paint, crayons and sticking one sequences. After that they did a lot of cutting to make a hanging monster with many arms and legs. My daughter loves to have her monster hanging on her room door knob.

Pirates

As most kids seem to love Pirates I thought we could make a full class of it . We started by making large pirate paintings with a cut out ship, then using lollie sticks for the mast. Afterwards we made our own treasure chests by covering small boxes in lollie sticks [ so many uses ! ]. Once the glue had dried we painted the boxes and finished by adding a lock. Those who had some left over time got to make a sword by covering already cut of cardboard swords with tin foil .

Halloween

Always my favourite time of year Halloween. I tend to repeat the same craft activities just because I think they are perfect for the kids this age. I start by making Pumpkin lanterns by finding old glass jars then having the kids cover then in glue, then orange crate paper. When this dries they can use black crate paper to make the face. These lanterns once you add a candle are great to use at night to give you a spooky night light. Then we made some bats using toilet rolls painted black adding wings and the face. These are fun and easy then can be hung up around the house. The kids finish off with a witches/wizard hat. They cut out the form then I staple it together and they decorate cutting out stars moons and adding glitters.

American Indians

This was a new topic I had not previously done. It was great fun to make tepees with the kids which they can then take home and play with. Also their head pieces can be used for days of role play and fun once they get home. We just cut and stuck down different colored crate paper and added some colored feathers.

New Saturday morning class !

I have finally started a weekend class. For most living in Rio traffic is an issue, so having kids come at the weekend makes life much easier for those driving parents. This class was going to be for 4-8yrs but after a few requests for 3 yr olds I have made it 3-6 yrs. This means that even thought all kids will do the same topic the activities are differentiated according to age. This week we stuck with Underwater topic as it has nice fun and easy activities to see where the kids are at for a first class.
