Fish fun

This week we went under water with some fish fun. Making all kinds of fish is always a great topic as there are so many ways to make a fish ! We made a fish collage using shiny papers, painted our hands to make fish, octopus and crabs in the sea. We ended with a wiggling fish just made from colored card and two thin wooden sticks.

Seth and Bo

Seth and Bo started classes at the beginning of March and have been coming twice a week ever since, but now sadly they are heading back to the UK. I have really loved having these 2 brothers come every MOnday and Friday and will really miss not having them here. I was worried having a child so young but Bo has been so easy going smiling and content for every class. Seth always makes me laugh how he bosses his little brother around but the truth is they never really seem to fall out. I really hope I get to see them again, maybe back here in Buenos Aires or in some distant
place. Safe journey home................

Buildings and haunted houses

This weeks topic was Buildings which allowed us to make everything from 3D haunted houses to Tepees. First we looked at drawing a city sky line. Most of the children had never really used a ruler before so we worked on getting our lines as straight as possible. Then we added windows, roof and doors. After making our haunted houses by using thin card cut and folded in a certain way to make it sit out we finished with the Tepees. Most of the children had never seen or heard of a Tepee and just called it a 'party hat' !

Monsters

This week we thought it would be fun to make Monsters. We started by drawing lots of little ones to try out different mouths, eyes and silly limbs. We then went on to make a large hanging one and lastly we are waiting to finish off our puppet monsters.
Seth had a private class last week so we had fun making a foot print flower.

A New Year

This week we started off Art en Casa 2012 with some new students joining. Seth and Bo have started classes making Bo the official youngest student at Art en Casa, he is 1 and 3/4 !
I have decided this year to make each week a different topic so as well as creating exciting art the children can learn new vocab centered on one theme. This week we looked at 'Bugs' , the children made a Bug box, a collage bee and bug head bands.
Its great to have all the same children back from last year and a few new faces to share this little project with.
